TRAVEL BESTIES: the best of travel + wanderlusting this week

travel besties take me with you

It’s a miracle that you’re reading these words at all, as this post almost didn’t happen.

It’s Tuesday, for one, and as you vagabonds know the infamous Travel Besties tradition occurs on Fridays – but I’m feeling magnanimous. Who ever decided that Fridays get all the fun, anyway?

Let’s share a little Tuesday love – because really, why the heck not?

Between a trip to the coast (that is, windswept + chilly beach for those who don’t speak Oregonian lingo), solidifying plans for a warm weather vacay (hurray!), finishing up several part-time teaching gigs, and relaxing with loved ones, I’ve had the opportunity consider TMWY and where I’d like us to head in the future.

I’m seeing sunny forecasts – and not only as in summer vacation plans. As in more developed, info-packed posts to help you plan the travels of your dreams.

As in juicy resources for my fellow blogging vagabonds.

As in more interactive giveaways and chitchat opportunities (because, let’s face it, #wherewillisleepweek was a total blast! I loved connecting with you all and hearing your amazing travel tips and opinions).

So stay tuned. Get in touch. Let me hear what you’d like to see in the comments below. Meanwhile, here’s to the best of wanderlusting:

> As we mourn with those parts of the globe grieving for those lost to terrorism, I think it’s important to highlight those who hold on to hope in the difficult times. Times when many of us would rather shut our eyes, close the blinds, and hide in our own little corners of the world. A big thank you to Natasha for sharing why terrorism will not stop her from traveling.

> Falling in love . . . abroad? Is it even possible? This travel blogger shares her story. And it’s A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.

> And then there’s . . . Tinder “love.” I couldn’t resist Holly’s article on tindering her way across Europe.

> But I’d say what really matters when you’re traveling the great wide world is not romance, but friendship. Check out these 7 key criteria for picking a travel buddy, one of the most important travel planning decisions you’ll ever make! Big BIG shout out to my favorite travel buddies, whether dancing in Montana lightening storms, braving African floods, racing up Rocky’s steps, or trying to perfect our Irish accents, you know who you are 😉 <3

> Speaking of being a travel blogger and all, it’s a tad embarrassing, but I really had no idea there were so many UNESCO world heritage sites until I saw this neat interactive map. Take a guess at how many there are in the world. Okay, now go look. Were you close? I was way off.

> Don’t forget to check back in this Friday for TMWY’s travel giveaway. Curious? Here’s a hint: this is one travel app you really don’t want to miss.
