Where to stay in Lincoln City: My budget beach retreat
Summertime calls for beach trips like peanut butter calls for chocolate. And while I love a good spontaneous day road trip, often I need a little longer – say, a weekend – to retreat to some cozy coastal haven, curl my sand-covered toes onto my chair, and watch the sun sink into the horizon.
Ya feel me?
Then you can imagine my excitement at finding a beach-side AirBnB with everything to make a cozy weekend special without breaking the bank: the Tide Pool in Lincoln City, Oregon.
This steal of a condo resides directly above the section of Lincoln City’s beach allowing vehicle access, meaning you can cruise right onto the sand from your hotel room. Or you can curl up with a cup of tea on your private balcony for this spectacular evening view:
As those of you familiar with Oregon coast sunsets know, the camera never does it justice 😉
As well as being right on the beach, the Tide Pool condo is minutes away from Highway 101, making for easy walking access to the town’s main shops and eateries.
Normally I can cruise tourist shops and romp through the sand for ages, but I found it remarkably difficult to tear myself away from the relaxation of the Tide Pool condo.
I had been expecting a compact, cozy, cabin-like apartment: lovely, but a little dark and tiny. Instead, I was blown away by the appealing layout of the living room and kitchen and the vast amount of light. The main windows and sliding glass balcony door naturally lit the room at all hours of the day.
So instead of dumping my bag and heading out to the beach, I made myself at home in this home-away-from-home, all the while musing, What would it be like to live here?
Wonderful, I decided.
The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking equipment, feeling much more like a chef’s retreat than a teeny condo kitchenette. And the master bedroom? Super cozy, even equipped with encouraging inspirational books in the nightstands. There’s also a full closet and handy dresser (not pictured).
Though the condo is flexible enough to hold a total of four occupants: the living room sofa easily converts to a full bed.
And I’m a sucker for details – in which area the Tide Pool went above and beyond. The nautical decor felt welcoming and warm.
My favs of the Tide Pool highlights:
- Cozy fireplace + clear operating instructions (for the technically challenged like myself)
- That covered balcony + view . . . ‘nough said
- Easy access wifi
- Spacious kitchen fully equipped for cooking escapades (just bring the ingredients and your creativity)
- Dan and Teresa’s clear communication and willingness to answer any booking questions
- Outdoor key lockbox making check-in an anytime no-brainer
- Adorable beach decor
- Hidden extra bed
- Walking + vehicle beach access
- Flatscreen TV + Cable
- Parking space on site (one vehicle per booking)
- Nostalgic guestbook (I’m not the only one who loves the Tide Pool!)
While there is plenty to do in Lincoln City and the nearby coastal towns, my favorite part of the Oregon Coast is the scenery. So pack your bags (bring layers for the random Oregon weather!), head to the Tide Pool, then wander the beach. Poke your head in a few tourist shops and stop somewhere that smells yummy for dinner. I loved Sushi Hunter, but if you’re looking for something all American, check out the acclaimed Wildflower Grill.
The one thing I’d change about my beach retreat? Next time I’m bringing marshmallows and starting a beach bonfire.
Will you be making any end of summer beach trips? Tell me your plans in the comments below!
